Mission
There shall be a Centre for Robotics and Control (CRC) whose mission will be to enhance and extend the institute’s existing technological strength in robotics and control areas, with demonstrated potential for the nation’s economy. In pursuing this mission, the centre shall seek to obtain and expand external funding support from both private and public sources. The institute will conduct interdisciplinary research on controller development, modification, and evaluation; on design and development of various robots and robotic solutions for different streams of engineering; and on intelligent robots.
 
The Centre for Robotics and control initiated a number of activities in the frontier area of Intelligent Control and Autonomous robots, and has become truly interdisciplinary.

               for undergraduate projects
               for postgraduate theses

Research and Development

               academic research
               sponsored/consultancy projects
 
Training and Information Dissemination

               through Continuing Education Programmes
               through the development of a reference library
 
The Centre for Robotics and control initiated a number of activities in the frontier area of Intelligent Control and Autonomous robots, and has become truly interdisciplinary.
 
The centre builds on the world-leading and international excellence performance in the field of robotics and control. Members at the Centre coordinate large number of external research projects and collaborate with the major national and international centres in robotics and control. The main areas of research carried out by the Centre are:

                   • The application of mathematical and computational modelling
                   • The investigation and understanding of the interaction between controllers and robotic systems,
                      with an emphasis on intelligence
                   • The use of computational and robotics modelling methods to investigate system behaviours and
                      searching for improvements
                   • Service robots, medical robots and human-robot interaction
                   • The application of these models into the real-world robotic and interactive applications (from
                      industrial to medical areas).
